Life Is Beautiful

One of my favorite blogs to read each week is the Nesting Place. Nester is full of decorating ideas and is known for her window mistreatments. She often tells her readers, "It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful."

This week Nester has asked her readers to share about their imperfectly beautiful lives, and this is my contribution. I invite you to step into my world by looking at these pictures to see my imperfect, but beautiful life.

Rachel and an English Springer Spaniel puppy

Anyone who knows me knows that my life isn't perfect. I struggle daily with a chronic illness that makes life quite challenging. In this picture I am outside with a 4 week old puppy, smiling, and enjoying life. What you don't see is that Will had to help me walk from the house to the yard because I was too weak to do it on my own. I was in pain, feeling faint, and was only able to spend about 20 minutes outside. I didn't feel well, but I was happy.

My life isn't perfect, but it is beautiful. I'm so thankful for the life God gave me, the family I have to help me, my husband who faithfully loves me and cares for me, and my son who makes me laugh every day! Life is beautiful because I have hope and joy in the midst of trials. Life is beautiful because I have Jesus as my Savior. Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10, NIV). Yes, He has given me a full life. I am blessed. Life is truly beautiful.

tulips

While we were visiting family in Minnesota recently, we had some wonderful afternoons outside. I was able to go out twice, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were even purple tulips that bloomed while we were there! Purple tulips are my favorite flower.

I loved sitting on the porch, watching William run in the field, and watching Will and his brother throw a football.

William loved the cool tricycle.

It was hard to be outside, but it was fun. My life isn’t perfect, but it sure is beautiful!

Mito Testing and Midwest Travelling

Health update:

There actually isn't much to tell at this point.  The preliminary blood work came back from Dr. Cohen.  There were some abnormalities, but not not enough to make a firm diagnosis.  He is currently working on testing the tissue from the biopsy as well as doing DNA testing for a specific mitochondrial disease.  My job at this point is to just wait.

I did try the new med, Epogen, for a month.  I was not able to continue taking it because it caused an increase in my fatigue.  I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it, but I'm a little bit glad that it didn't work because it is a painful shot!  I would rather have an easier-to-take, less painful medicine.

Regular Life Update:

We recently went on a trip to the Midwest to visit family members and go to my brother's wedding.  The trip was exhausting for me, but we had a wonderful time.  It was good to see friends and family members again whom we hadn't seen in a year or more.  While at Will's dad's house, we also enjoyed being outside, playing with dogs, and holding adorable puppies
