Come, Thou long expected Jesus,
Born to set Thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in Thee.
Israel’s Strength and Consolation,
Born to set Thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in Thee.
Israel’s Strength and Consolation,
Hope of all the earth Thou art;
Dear Desire of every nation,
Joy of every longing heart.

Thank you for this...it has been so long since I have heard this hymn. The minute I read your title, I started humming. Beautiful. I am full of joy.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad it was a blessing to you. I love the old hymns with their rich words and the church history behind them. May the joy of the Lord carry you through the week! Blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteI love the old hymns they are rich in history and verse.
ReplyDeleteAlso love the old churches with the wooden pews. Makes you wonder what kind of stories they could share.
I love the old hymns too. They are so rich and deep!
ReplyDeleteOh, YES!!! And if he felt that way WAY back then, how can we imagine that the same isn't in lives today? Knowing more rapidly re: sorrowful world-wide news, choices people and states and nations are making that are absolutely opposite of the Word... and on and on. Was singing the verse as I read it. Lovely hymn and "LOVERLY" reminder of where to focus.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
