National Delurking Day

Hello Friends,

I just found out that it is National Delurking Day!  It's a day to stop lurking on the blogs you read, and leave comments.  Come on out of the shadows!

I would love to know more about my readers.  I can tell by my stats that I have a lot more regular readers than my comment box would suggest.  I would love to know who you are and a little bit about you.  If you are a lurker, or even if you are a long time reader and commenter, will you answer some questions for me please?  It would be a wonderful gift to me to get to know you a little better.

I'll even let you just fill in the blanks:

My name is _______________ (you can use just your first name or even a screen name)
I am a ______________ (student, wife, mom, fellow person with dysautonomia, etc.)
I enjoy ______________ and _________________.
My favorite Bible verse or quote is ______________________.

I know it can be awkward to leave a comment on a blog for the first time, but if you are comfortable giving it a try, I invite you to delurk today!  I can't wait to hear what you have to say.

Blessings,
Rachel

  1. I'm Phoebe - I'm a 26 year old woman with dysautonomia. I've been reading your blog for some time now but have (obviously) never commented. :) I found your blog one day as I was so discouraged about chronic illness, feeling like I was the only sick person the planet, and I just started searching the internet for blogs of other Christians with dysautonomia. I was so thrilled to find you (haha, that sounds totally creepy). But ever since then, your blog has been so encouraging to me! So... thanks! (Oh, I also follow your twitter... I'm @prosel)

  2. I'm tonya
I am a fellow person with Dysautonomia
I love to read and do anything I have the energy to do!
Gosh, my favorite Bible verse? I hae different ones at different times! Lately I've been thinking a lot about Exedus 14:14 "the Lord will fight for you; you only need to be still" it's actually the verse that kept coming to mind when I was having my TTT

  3. Hi Rachel!

I'm going to stop delurking-- thanks for the impetus! :).
I'm Emily Hogge, a friend from camp.
I love cooking, when I have time and money to do so.

My favorite bible "portion" at the moment is: In Revelation, Chapter  21, about the new Jerusalem someday.
25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.

I really like the image of this tall, glistening city where the gates are never shut, because it is a safe place-- the idea that someday, all will be right.

I read your blog pretty regularly, and I've recently been praying for you, particularly after your post about what it costs you to share time with your family recently.

  4. Hi Phoebe,
Thanks for commenting!  It is so nice to meet you!  It is neat to find other people with dysautonomia.  If it weren't for the internet, we would likely never find one another.  I'm sorry that you have to suffer from dysautonomia too.  I'm glad you found me here, and it is a blessing to me to know that my blog has encouraged you.  Thanks for letting me know who you are on twitter.  I'm following you now. :)

  6. Hi Emily!
Thanks so much for delurking!  It is great to hear from you.

Revelation 21 is a wonderful passage.  It is thrilling to know that one day all wrongs will be made right and that there will be peace on the earth.

Thank you for your friendship and your prayers.

  9. Haha!  I love it! :)  So you like filling out forms too?  I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't know that!  How have I known you all these years and somehow missed that fact?  I like filling out forms too.  Maybe it's in our genes.

I'm glad you like hanging out with me sometimes too. But I will admit that William and Adelaide are cooler than me. :)

  13. Hi Rachel,
Karen here. I lurk on your blog regularly. :) I enjoy keeping up with you guys and am excited to see God working in your lives. I must say that William's Lego party was a success with a certain 6 year-old daughter of mine. So much so that she spent her Christmas money on a Lego set and has played with it every day. Wish we'd gotten to spend more time getting to know one another when we lived just a few doors away! Oh, one of my favorite passages is Matthew 6:25-34 (I'm a recovering worry wart).

  15. Hi Mom! That's so interesting that you like filling out forms too!  I thought that I was the only person who liked filling them out, and now I discover that you and Krista like it too.  I'm glad I'm not alone in my quirkiness. :)

  16. Hi Kristin!  Thanks for commenting! :)  I found out about National Delurking Day on (in)courage this afternoon when I woke up (www.incourage.me).  I had never heard of it before either, but it sounded like fun.

So you are a daughter of the King who also likes Pinterest, reading, blogging, coffee, tea, and chocolate?  We would get along well!

  17. Hi Karen,

Thanks so much for delurking! :)  I'm glad we got to visit briefly when we were in KY last month, and I'm so glad your daughter had fun at the Lego party.  It was great to have you both there.

  21. Hi Rachel:  Guess I am not really a "lurker" because I have commented in the past but just wanted to chime in here and say that I very much enjoy your writing.  Although I work in the medical field, I did not know much about dysautonomia or POTS.  I have new awareness and respect for the fact that there are many people who suffer from these invisible illnesses.  Best to you and your beautiful family always.

    ~Your second cousin (I think), Glenda  ^_^

  22. Hello, Amz!  It is so wonderful to hear from you.  I'm glad you found me here, and I'm so glad you left a comment.  I love hearing from my readers.  Your encouragement helps to keep me going.

You aren't alone in your illness, even though you are on the other side of the world from me.  It is neat how the internet can bring us closer together so that we can walk the road of chronic illness along with other Christians.

  23. Hi Emma!  Thanks so much for reading my blog and for commenting.  I always appreciate hearing from my readers; your encouragement helps to keep me going on those hard days.  It is so nice to know that I have a friend in London who is going through some of the same things as me.

  24. Hi Glenda, thanks for leaving a comment!  You aren't technically a lurker, but it is always fun to hear from any of my readers.  Thank yo for your kind words and encouragement.  I think we are first cousins once removed.  You are my mom's first cousin, and so I am one generation removed from you.  Your children would be my second cousins.  I think that's how it works!

  25. I'm not a lurker, but I too, enjoy filling out forms so here goes....

I am Jennifer, wife, mother of two, writer, and living with Ankylosing Spondylitis. I like coffee and writing and [currently] sitting in my recliner with laptop and heated blanket. My favorite text changes depending on the season in my life, but one I have enjoyed since my diagnosis is "The LORD Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged" (Deuteronomy 31:8).

  26. That's so funny that you like filling out forms too!  I wonder how many of us there are!  I always thought I was the only strange person who liked filling out forms.  I actually kind of have fun doing taxes.

I am so blessed to know you and have you as a blogging friend.  You continue to encourage me with your words on your blog and on facebook. Thank you!
