Busy Hands: Fingerless Gloves

I enjoy working on small crochet projects while resting in bed. As you all know, I like to keep my hands busy if at all possible! For my birthday my sister gave me this book: Crochet One-Skein Wonders. It is full of great little crochet projects that can be made using one skein of yarn or less. I have a lot of yarn that was passed on to me from my Oma, and this book has had lots of great patterns and ideas for me as I use the yarn remnants.

In January I made these fingerless gloves using yarn from Oma. I never thought I would be a fingerless glove person, but these have been so nice to use at night! Sometimes my fingers get cold while I am typing, holding a book, or crocheting in the winter. These fingerless gloves really help! Now I have a way to keep my hands busy wand warm at the same time.

What have you been doing lately to keep your hands busy?

  1. So fun!! I haven't been knitting or crocheting much bc I started watercolor and love it. But I have a lot of problems with my arms and hands. I saw a OT and she wanted me to do putty exercises but my PT & I were talking maybe picking up crochet in moderation as a hand work out.

  2. That's so great that you are doing water color! Crochet as a hand work out - that's a good way to consider it. I hope that you will be able to do some crocheting again. It sounds like much more fun than putty exercises. Either way, I hope that the OT helps!

  3. They're beautiful! Pretty colours too :) I have problems with my arms and so can't knit at the moment (I haven't ever succeeded at learning crochet) but I have been enjoying chalk drawing at the moment. Blending the colours is so fun :) and I also have been reading alot- does that count? :) probably not! I also have done a bit of watercolour too lately, but more chalk drawing.

  5. I am envious of those who can knit and crochet, neither of which I can do. Nor can I sew. My mother was quite the seamstress, I have trouble hemming a pair of pants. Your fingerless gloves are quite clever and look like they would work very well for you.
