Favorite Books of 2013

An improvement in my health that I greatly enjoyed last year was a decrease in brain fog. I don't know why that symptom improved, but I am so glad it did! A few years ago I really struggled to do much reading. There are still days and weeks when I can't read much, but I am so glad that on a good day now I can read an hour or more per day!

Something that has helped me to be able to read more is a kindle. There are many days that I can't hold a book open for an extended period of time because my arms grow too weak. On those days I can read on my kindle by propping it up in bed and just tapping to turn a page.

In 2013 I read a total of 24 books! Some of them were very short books, but books none-the-less. I had not read that many books in a single year since I was in Bible college!

Here is a list of my favorite books from last year:

So far in 2014 I have read seven books. If you want to see the books I'm reading this year, you may visit me on GoodReads.

What good books have you read lately? I need suggestions for what to put on my "To Read" list!

  1. Hmm, books I've been enjoying lately (or just in general!) have been God's smuggler by Brother Andrew, I would die for you by Brent Higgins, figures of the true by Amy Carmichael (very encouraging but might be a little hard to follow. It is very small though, just a booklet), and rose from Brier by Amy Carmichael (similar writing style to figures of the true). God's smuggler is easy to read and so very, very good! :) with love

One of my favorite books is The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. I also recently read the novella Anthem by Ayn Rand. She had some odd beliefs, so I don't agree with everything that she said, but considering her background with communism (and even without) it's a very interesting read, and not too long.

  4. Thank you for the suggestions! Rose from Brier is the only one you mentioned that I have read. The others sound very interesting too.

  7. The Hiding Place is so good! I haven't read it, but I have listened to the unabridged audio version, and it was excellent! I hadn't heard of Anthem by Ayn Rand. It's free for kindle, so I might check that out. I'll take the disclaimer under advisement!
